We went to Kingston Maurward this weekend. It was wonderful to be back out eventing after a difficult start to the year. Three horses were entered into the BE100: CASA CONQUEST (George), CASA MCKINLEY (Mac) and DOONGARA (Dolly).
CASA CONQUEST… our lovely George. Where do I begin. He’s always tolerated the dressage (just about!) but it has never been his strong point. He did a 38 scoring test and a double clear to finish third. He’s so much fun out on that cross country course, he oozes ability and I’m excited to see what’s next. He is however a horse who is very sensitive and has struggled with health issues so we have to very much look after him.
DOONGARA had absolutely fantastic 2025 Eventing debut. Known to her friends as Dolly, she is an extremely feisty mare who has endless talent but likes it to be done her way, or the highway! However; she really didn’t let me down by winning her section! Every phase felt like a dream and I had a huge smile on my face riding her. She really wouldn’t be everyone’s cuppa but she is mine!
Casa McKinley, our extra large homebred, has a special place on the yard. We had to hand raise him pretty much as he had a lot of health issues when he was born, so it means so much to have him where he is now and riding him is a privilege in my opinion. Mac the cheeky chap was leading his BE100 section with a 27.0 and clear SJ, but decided to save him for another day XC due to the firm ground, he has sensitive feet and there’s never any point risking the future of your horse for one day, when waiting could give you another few years of longevity and fun!
Couldn’t be happier with the results and excited to continue the rest of the season. As always a huge thank you to all of my support team, owners, wonderful grooms and all those who keep me and my horses on the road! Onto the next… ✅
catch you next time!
